December at St. Mark’s
Dear Friends,
Advent is here, with all that brings of changing weather, busy plans, family, community and business gatherings, and…anticipating Christmas. We hear it every year, “Jesus is the reason for the Season”. It is ever true.
Allow me to reframe the perspective on this just a bit.
Advent is the season when we realize, with startling wonder, great humility, and overflowing joy, that “God so loved the world, that He gave us His only and eternal Son, that whoever believes in Him (in Jesus!) may not perish, but may have eternal life.” John 3:16
God’s attention turned toward His creation in a miraculous way, taking on human flesh in the form of a Child; One who would be our Eternal King. Our sinfulness is the reason for this intervention, our redemption is the joyful outcome. Jesus is still the focus. His Grace is our Hope.
